Saint Michael the Archangel

Saint Michael the Archangel is the patron of the Familia Sancti Michaelis Archangeli (FSMA) prayer group, from whom it seeks spiritual strength and protection.
The FSMA was founded on May 8th, the day the Church commemorates the apparition of Saint Michael the Archangel in the cave in Monte Sant’Angelo on Mount Gargano in Italy. This date and location are a constant source of inspiration, trust, and connection in prayer.
Short history of the apparition in Monte Sant’Angelo:
At the end of the 5th century (around 490), an event occurred in the Apulia region of southern Italy that would forever change the spiritual landscape of Europe. A wealthy local nobleman named Elvio Emanuele lost his most beautiful ox. After a long search, he found it in an inaccessible cave on the peak of Mount Gargano, which could not be entered. When the angry owner tried to kill the bull and shot an arrow into the cave, the arrow inexplicably turned in midair and returned to the shooter, injuring him in the eye. The frightened residents turned to the local bishop, who ordered a three-day fast and prayers. On the third day, Saint Michael the Archangel appeared to the bishop and announced: "I am Archangel Michael, and I stand before God's face. The cave is consecrated by my power; I have chosen it. Where the rock opens, the sins of people will be forgiven..."
When the locals later faced overwhelming odds against barbarian invaders in 492, the bishop asked the archangel for help. The archangel promised victory and, during the decisive battle, enveloped the mountain in dense fog and a violent storm, forcing the enemies to retreat. In commemoration of this miracle, a sanctuary was consecrated in the cave — the only place on earth that was not consecrated by human hands, but by the archangel himself.
Protector in the spiritual battle: Who is Saint Michael?
In the tradition of the Church, Saint Michael is primarily revered as the fearless leader of the heavenly hosts and protector in spiritual warfare. His figure is closely tied to the defense of God's kingdom against the forces of darkness.
The Bible provides strong evidence of his role in the battle against Lucifer:

● The Book of Revelation (Rev. 12:7-9): "There was a war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon. The dragon and his angels fought, but they did not prevail, and there was no longer a place for them in heaven. The great dragon, the ancient serpent, who is called the devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world, was thrown down; he was thrown down to the earth, and his angels were thrown down with him."
Daniel 10-13:21: "... a hľa, Michal, jedno z prvých kniežat, prišiel mi na pomoc ... ... a nie je nikto, kto by mi pomáhal proti nim, okrem Michala, vášho kniežaťa." “
Jud 1:9: "When the archangel Michael was disputing with the devil about the body of Moses, he did not dare to bring a slanderous accusation against him, but said: 'Let the Lord rebuke you!'
These biblical texts remind us that evil is a real force, but with God's help and under the guidance of Saint Michael, it has no chance of winning.
Svatý Michal pomáhá lidem v oblastech:
Saint Michael the Archangel is not just a distant heavenly force, but an active intercessor and protector in many life situations:
1. Protection from the influence of evil and temptation.
In today's world, we face many moral and spiritual challenges. Svätý Michal je prvá obranná linka proti duchovným útokom, malomyseľnosti a hriechu. He helps us resist the temptations of the evil one and protects our mind and heart from darkness.
2. Guide in the hour of death and salvation of souls.
Traditionally, St. Michael is considered the patron saint of the dying. His role is to escort the souls of the deceased before the throne of God, protect them from Satan's attacks in their final hour, and bring them God's light and peace.
3. Protector of the Church, families, and communities.
As he was the prince of the chosen people in the Old Testament and the protector of Christians throughout history, he also protects our prayer community, Familia Sancti Michaelis Archangeli, today. He is a powerful patron of unity in families, protector of marriages, and patron of all who strive to live a devout life.
4. He is a helper in every distress and need.

Saint Michael helps people in need, those who have been treated unjustly, and those in desperate situations. His strong presence brings inner courage, confidence, and strength of faith to those who are burdened by crosses and suffering..
