Jesus' Prayer for Unity

IMG_5733_edited.jpg

My adored Jesus.

Let our feet travel together,

Let our hands join in unity,

May our hearts beat in unison,

May our souls be in harmony,

Let our thoughts be one,

Let our ears listen together to the silence,

Let our gazes penetrate deeply.

Let our lips pray together,

to obtain mercy

from the Eternal Father.

Amen

The Jesus Prayer for Unity is a beautiful, profound prayer that is not just about outward following of Jesus Christ, but about the complete spiritual union of man with God. It is closely related to the spiritual message of the Flame of Love of the Immaculate Heart of Mary movement.

1. The origin of prayer:

The prayer comes from the diaries of Hungarian mystic, lay Carmelite nun and mother of six, Elisabeth Kindelmann (née Szántó, 1913–1985), who lived in Budapest. Elisabeth wrote down inner inspirations and messages she received from Jesus Christ and the Virgin Mary between 1962 and 1985.

2. Circumstances surrounding the origin of the Jesus Prayer for Unity:

The “Jesus Prayer for Unity” itself was dictated by the Lord Jesus to Elizabeth on May 4, 1962. According to her diary, this text was intended to serve as a powerful spiritual tool for believers. Jesus said of this prayer: “This prayer is a tool in your hands. By your cooperation with me, you will blind Satan and thus your souls will not be led into sin.”

3. Content of the prayer:

Prayer is aimed at a deep union of man with Christ, a unity of thoughts, desires and steps, whereby man becomes an instrument for obtaining mercy from the Eternal Father:

4. Church approval:

The spiritual works and diary of Elisabeth Kindelmann have undergone thorough theological examination. The entire movement and prayers associated with the Flame of Love have received ecclesiastical approval (imprimatur) from the local bishop and cardinal of the Budapest Archbishop, Cardinal Péter Erdő, as a private pious association of believers. Today, this prayer is spread throughout the world as part of the prayer communities of the Flame of Love movement.
